World Autism Awareness Day 2020

31st Mar 2020

World Autism Awareness Day is an internationally recognized day on 2 April every year, encouraging Member States of the United Nations to take measures to raise awareness about people with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).

World Autism Awareness Day provides us with the opportunity to discuss and teach Article 2 of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of a Child. (Rights Respecting School)

Article 2: Non-discrimination

All children have these rights, no matter who they are, where they live, what their parents do, what language they speak, what their religion is, whether they are a boy or girl, what their culture is, whether they have a disability, whether they are rich or poor. No child should be treated unfairly on any basis.

To increase our children's awareness of Autism we have included a number of tasks in our home learning page to be completed independently or with adult help.

Discuss Autism with your child. Reach out to a family member or friend who has an autistic child. You are the piece of the puzzle in someone's life, you may not know where you fit, but they will fill their empty jigsaw spaces with pieces of your kindness, love and compassion.
