Eco-School

This is an exciting time for our school, as we join the 51,000 participating Eco-Schools worldwide, taking the challenge and working towards improving the local and global environment through education and practical action.

Eco-Schools is an international environmental education programme, offering a well-defined, controllable way for schools to take environmental issues from the curriculum and apply them to the day-to-day running of our school. Eco-Schools is holistic. It aims to make environmental awareness and action an intrinsic part of the life and ethos of our school. Eco-Schools endeavours to extend learning beyond the classroom and develop responsible attitudes and commitment, both at home and in the wider community. Eco-Schools is both a programme and an award scheme. The Eco-Schools highest award takes the form of a Green Flag.
Moneynick Primary School is fully committed to the principles of the Eco-School programme and are working together as a team to connect our learning. We have the support of our Governors; our children are involved in decision-making and action at every stage and we encourage our parents and local community to get involved with actions to instigate long-term change. Through a well-defined action plan, and extensive application to Eco -Schools Northern Ireland/Live Here Love Here, we have just received our third Eco - Flag Award in a row. An outstanding achievement for a rural school. Our website page provides our school community with the opportunity to view, value and get involved with our work.
