Moneynick Primary School, Randalstown

About Us

Moneynick Primary School is a rural school situated in the parish of Duneane, in the townland of Moneynick along the shores of Lough Neagh.

This year our school enters its 86th year on its current site and was renovated in 2004 when a second building was added to the main building, facilitating a 3rd classroom, a reading/sensory room and spacious dining/sports hall. With a tarmac pitch and grass playing field, our sports facilities are utilised both during the school day and during after school activities. Our school has a “Mindfulness” area where our children can sit at the picnic tables, read, listen to relaxing wind chimes and watch the wildlife our window boxes encourage during summer months. We have a greenhouse filled with gardening equipment to allow our eco-warriors to maintain our flower beds, vegetable patch, fairy garden and discover the rich biodiversity our grounds encourage. This year we are installing a community fundraised wooden play park structure that will complement our range of outdoor play equipment including trikes, mud kitchen, trim and trail and much more. We have a sacred garden that is accessible to our whole school community as a place to reflect and practise our strong Catholic ethos which has been recognised by the Down and Connor Diocese as Moneynick achieved the Spirit of Catholic Education with Distinction during both the past two years.

In Moneynick we are an extension of the family unit involving the school community extensively within our daily school life. We have strong links with parents and guardians, other schools in the parish, post-primary schools, our Parish of Duneane, local GAA clubs and our Shared Education partners, Duneane Primary School.
