🐻🩺 Teddy Bear Hospital Visits Primary 1/2/3! 🩺🐻
We were delighted to welcome the Teddy Bear Hospital to our Primary 1/2/3 classroom today for a fantastic day of learning. Two Queen’s University medical students visited with Dr Brown Bear, Anna a final-year medical student and friend of our school, and Michael a third-year medical student and past pupil of our school.
The children learned all about the role of doctors and who might care for them in hospital. As a wonderful celebration to conclude our topic “Hey Hey Look at Me”, Anna and Michael explored our organs and bones with the children and delivered a range of engaging, curriculum-linked workshops steeped in playfulness.
Each pupil became a doctor for the day, treating their own teddy bear patient by:
Recording vital signs and measurements on patient charts
Completing an ICT task on Just2Easy
Taking and interpreting X-rays
Giving vaccinations, eye tests, bandages and lots of plasters
Constructing and labelling a skeleton
Design a personal Get Well Soon card for teddy
It was a hands-on learning experience and a very special opportunity, one that only very few primary schools get to enjoy. A huge thank you to Anna and Michael for giving our pupils such a memorable and educational day. What a perfect way to celebrate the end of our theme! ![]()
