🌟 Weekly Highlights from our Primary 1/2/3 Classroom! 🌟
We’ve all enjoyed a fun week of discovery and learning — here are just a few of our favourite moments:
🌸 Spring Flower Talk:
Our pupils were full of anticipation as they predicted what the mystery objects covered in tinfoil were. They were so excited to discover primroses and cherry blossoms which stimulated much group discussion comparing the features of different spring flowers. They shared their observations about the contrasting colours, shapes, and smells — fantastic for building confidence in communicating with their peers, extending their descriptive vocabulary and early science skills!
✍️ Letter Formation Fun:
During a multi-station lesson, one table focused on practising the fine motor skills involved in letter formation. Writing letters correctly helps reinforce letter-sound relationships and recognition during reading activities while allowing our pupils to become confident writers, the groundwork for literacy skills including spelling, sentence structure and expressing their ideas.
💭 Bubble Map Magic:
We introduced the concept of bubble maps, which allow pupils to organise their thoughts and describe people, objects, and ideas! Our pupils completed these with great pride in their presentation and conveyed how much they had learned by noting features and facts about the flowers from our group discussion. See an example of our first bubble maps below!
Well done on giving your all during this weeks lessons and tasks! We can’t wait to see what next week brings! 🌈✨
